The gold coin Australian Kangaroo, also called Kangaroo or Nugget in Germany, is minted since 1987 by the Perth Mint. In the beginning, the coin was called Australian Nugget. Officially since 2008, the coin is named Australian Kangaroo. Every year the Perth Mint develops a new kangaroo motif.

The reverse of the Kangaroo gold coin in all denominations features a portrait of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, based on a design by artist Ian Rank Broadley, and his initials "IRB." In addition to the words "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA", the corresponding face value of the gold coin is also shown.
