The 1/10 ounce Vienna Philharmonic coin is the medium sized coin of the five family members. The Vienna Philharmonic is the most successful European investment gold coin and, according to the World Gold Council, the best-selling gold coin in the world in 1992, 1995, 1996 and 2000. The coin is particularly sought after in Japan and North America.
On October 10, 1989, the first Vienna Philharmonic was offered for sale. The Austrian Mint in Vienna produces according to demand. The circulation numbers for the 1/10 ounce coin fluctuate over the years between 170,000 and 450,000 pieces per year. The 1/10 ounce gold Vienna Philharmonic coin is official currency with a face value of €10. Like all other Philharmonics, it has the highest possible fineness of 999.9, which means it is made of pure gold. The basis for the price calculation of the 1/10oz Vienna Philharmonic gold coin as a bullion coin is the current gold price.
With the motive one remains faithful. It is always the same, only the year of mintage changes. The motif shows instruments of the famous Vienna orchestra, namely a horn, a bassoon, a harp, a cello in the middle and next to it on the left and right a viola and, above, a violin.
The reverse side shows the organ in the Great Hall of the Musikverein (often called the "Golden Hall"). Designed by the chief engraver of the Austrian Mint, Thomas Pesendorfer, the coin has won several awards.
