The gold coin Australian Kangaroo, also called Kangaroo or Nugget in Germany, has been minted by the Perth Mint since 1986. In the beginning, the coin was called Australian Nugget. Officially since 2008, the coin is called Australian Kangaroo.

The motif side shows a new kangaroo motif every year. In 2023 it is a kangaroo surrounded by various plant species, including a eucalyptus tree and a grass tree. Next to the motif, the year of mintage "2023", the fineness "9999 GOLD" and the denomination "1 oz" are embossed. Clearly legible on the left side of the coin is the "P" for the Perth Mint.

The reverse of the Kangaroo gold coin shows in all denominations a portrait of the British Queen Elizabeth II, after a design by the artist Ian Rank Broadley, as well as his initials "IRB". In addition to the words "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA", the corresponding face value of the gold coin is also shown. On the Kangaroo Gold 2023, the years of her reign - 1952 to 2022 - have been added.
