  • The 1 ounce of gold Britannia coin 2024

Noble, unique and exclusive - that is the best description for the 1 ounce of gold Britannia coin. It has been issued by the UK Mint since 1987 and is one of the most recognizable coins on the market. The Britannia is a investment classic.

Every year the front side shows the image of the British national figure Britannia with a Corinthian helmet and robe. In the right hand of the warrior woman in armor we see a trident with which she rules the seas. She is holding a sign with Britain's flag in her left hand - the Union Jack - and a small olive branch. The design is by Philip Nathan, who created the motif in 1987. His surname is stamped in capital letters below the Britannia. In the marginal inscription we see the name "BRITANNIA", the year of issue "2024" and the fine weight and fineness "1oz 999.9 FINE GOLD".

The iconic coin design has four advanced security features. The additional protection against counterfeiting of the Britannia is characterized by the fact that a small circle with corrugated content has been embossed on the lower left corner of the motif side. Within this circle, depending on the perspective from which we view the coin, a padlock can be seen emphasizing the coin's secure nature, or a trident representing its naval history.  Additionally, the waves create a surface animation that reflects the movement. The inscription "DECUS ET TUTAMEN", which translates to "GLORY AND PROTECTION" is written as microtext between the background and the outer circle of the British coin. These features adorn the Britannia 2024 gold coin and make it a visually safe coin.

The Queen passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. With her death, a new era of coinage began. On the value side we see King Charles without a crown. This image of his majesty was created before his coronation. Designer is Martin Jennings. His initials MJ are embossed under the neck on the right. The abbreviation in Latin D.G.REX.F.D. "Dei Gratia Rex Fidei Defensor" means "By the Grace of God King, Defender of the Faith".
